Buoy Carmen & Buoy Laura

To determine the temporal and spatial variability of Saharan dust transport and deposition and their environmental effects across the equatorial North Atlantic Ocean, a monitoring experiment is set up using surface buoys below the Saharan dust plume from north-west Africa to the Caribbean along the 12th parallel. Two buoys (buoy Carmen; ~21°N / 21°W and buyo Laura; ~11°N / 23°W) with 9 filters are available for the ASKOS campaign. The filters will be recovered in November 2021 and will determine amounts of dust/fluxes.

Additionally, meteorological data from a vaisala weather sensor are collected with 10s resolution.
